Tours for prospective future residents

Regularly scheduled tours of the site are available on weekends, generally on Saturdays, and also by appointment. When you take a tour, you will stroll through beautiful countryside, examine the site plan, take a look at house plans and learn about the ecologically advanced building materials that will be used in the homes. You will also meet some of the future residents.

Tours for special groups

We are happy to arrange for your group to take a tour of EcoVillage of Loudoun County, VA. Tours can be tailored to the interests of groups involved in ecological issues, scouting and homeschooling, to name a few. Please contact us to discuss your group’s interests.

How to prepare for your tour

Spring/summer (for your comfort and to keep the bugs away)

• Wear boots in the spring; otherwise walking shoes are fine
• Wear a hat
• Wear light-colored, lightweight, long pants
• Wear socks and pull them up over your pant legs
• Tuck shirts into pants
• You may wish to use some bug spray on your person
• Bring water to drink

Winter/Fall (for your comfort)

• Dress warmly and in layers

Children can have fun while the adults tour

Depending on the season, the children may go sledding, fly kites or play in the streams on the property. One or more of the future residents will supervise your children, if you like, while you take the tour.

To prepare for stream play

• When the weather is cold, dress the little ones in boots, otherwise old shoes will be fine.
• Bring an extra set of clothes including, shoes and socks.
• Bring a butterfly net or kitchen strainer for catching creatures in the stream. (We catch them, observe them and return them to the stream.)
